Conservatives are the new liberals???? I dont think so.

I was just cruising round YouTube and came across this rather delusional vlog, the gentleman was alluding that Conservatives are now the new liberals. lmao. He frames his argument in a very specific way that is so acute its moronic.

Ok where do we start.......

Well lets start with his perversion of the linguistic definition of Liberal, he places the term Liberal as meaning 'going against the grain of society' or 'storming the intellectual castles of that time' or 'stands in opposition to popular thinking', he frames this thought in the Civil Rights Movement and being liberal in that period did mean you where out of the mainstream to a certain extent. But that does not define what being a Liberal means. I think instead of trying to define what liberal means by looking at what liberalism stands for, he is framing it in a historical sense, where he relates the rise of liberalism and the decline of conservatism as pertaining to what being liberal means. Lets take a look at what the dictionary says....

Certainly conservatism pertains to several of the above definations of the meaning of liberal, but not the majority. Above is what Liberal means, that is the definition and is concrete in our time.

Just because conservatism is now not the mainstream socio-political thought, does not make it the new liberalism. What i get from this vlog mostly is that this guy is pissed that most things are liberal, the usual moaning from conservatives. He is upset that conservatism is now in the position that Liberalism was in a few decades ago and thus he is trying in his delusions to place today's conservatism in the same paradigm as liberalism in the past. He, it seems, is relating things in a binary way in my opinion, IE good and bad, up and down, past and present. A method for understanding the real world that is utterly obsolete and incapable and has always been so.
